Lawyer Service Centre

The Lawyer Service Centre (LSC) is Legal Aid Ontario (LAO)s toll-free telephone line for lawyers who do legal aid work. It is your first call for all enquiries related to payment that are not answered on Legal Aid Online, including enquiries about:

  • Your certificate
  • Billing
  • Tariff instruction
  • Account status
  • Outstanding payment status
  • Block fee enquiries
  • Application status
  • Portal amendment request status
  • New solicitor assistance
  • Deposit slip reconciliation
  • Technical support

According to 1,309 lawyers surveyed between April 2012 and March 2013:

  • 93% said LSC was very effective or somewhat effective
  • 99% said they were treated with courtesy and respect
  • 63% said they contacted LSC three to five times throughout the fiscal year
  • 50% said they work in the GTA, 30% that they work in the Northern, Central and Eastern region, and 20% that they work in the Southwest region
