The Legal Clinic (TLC)

The Legal Clinic (TLC) is seeking an articling student for 2018/19 to work with us in serving the communities of northern Frontenac, northern Lennox & Addington and the Counties of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville.

TLC is a community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario to provide free legal information, advice and representation to low income or vulnerable persons primarily in the areas of Tenants Rights, Social Assistance, Criminal Injuries Compensation, Canada Pension Plan Disability, Employment Insurance, Human Rights and Wills and Powers of Attorney.

Under the direction and mentorship of clinic lawyers the articling student shall:

  • Undertake legal casework in all or some areas of law practiced by TLC
  • Represent clients before tribunals and courts
  • Increase access to legal services in rural communities by providing legal services at our satellite locations
  • Develop legal education materials and programs

The successful applicant shall have:

  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Experience or an interest in working with lower income or vulnerable persons
  • Awareness of, or an interest in, the issues of rural communities
  • Computer literacy
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
