Administrative assistant

Justice for Children and Youth (JFCY)

Part-time, permanent position

Start date: April 15th, 2019

Reports to: Executive Director and Office Manager

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum two years of office administration experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience interacting with clients and performing client intake
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail and timelines
  • Excellent skills working with young people of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to initiate and complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Excellent computer skills (experience with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks CIMS and Mail Chimp an asset)
  • Experience in a legal clinic or not‑for‑profit environment is an asset

Main Duties of the Job:

  • Reception duties including answering and routing calls
  • General administrative support in a law office
  • Maintaining various electronic databases and preparing reports
  • Organizing and preparing for meetings
  • Committee support and assistance with event planning
  • Ordering offices supplies and processing financial transactions

This position best suits someone who enjoys working in a dynamic team environment, a busy office, where variety, challenge and daily client interaction are the norm. Justice for Children and Youth is committed to anti‑oppression and social justice values. Compensation is in accordance with funding from Legal Aid Ontario, based on level of experience.
