In preparation for Legal Aid Ontario’s in-person consultations with community and specialty legal clinics in September and October, LAO is releasing this information video on clinic compensation funding.

This video will help clinic boards better obtain an understanding of the principles and concepts within the clinic consultation paper upon which the proposed funding framework is based.

Currently, LAO provides clinics with funding for compensation based on a funding grid that is premised on year of call for lawyers and year of hire for non-lawyer positions. This funding however does not necessarily translate into the actual salaries paid to clinic staff as some clinic boards follow the grid while others do not.

We hope that this video will help Legal Aid Ontario’s legal clinics obtain a better understanding of the principles and concepts within the consultation paper upon which the proposed funding framework is based.
