LAO statement regarding the Dispute Resolution Process with African Canadian Legal Clinic
Thursday, August 3, 2017
The African Canadian Legal Clinic is in LAO’s Dispute Resolution Process. This process is currently at the third and final stage. Among the possible outcomes are withdrawing LAO’s funding from the Clinic, continuing to fund ACLC, and/or placing additional conditions on the Clinic.
Regardless of what the Clinic Committee decides, LAO will work to ensure that members of Ontario’s Black community are well-served and receive the legal services to which they are entitled. Regardless of the outcome of the decision, we will be reaching out to set up community meetings immediately following the decision to discuss how LAO could best support services to the Black community.
