Legal Aid Ontario's (LAO) Refugee case law toolkit: A starting place for practitioners is now available online.
The toolkit helps practitioners conduct their own case-specific research by providing preliminary legal research to help prepare refugee hearings, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments, and/or applications for leave and judicial review to Federal Court and appeals to the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD).
It is also a companion piece to the Refugee Protection Division practice manual, which covers a wide variety of issues and strategies for best practices, from initial client meetings to Basis of Claim and hearing prep to post-hearing submission of evidence, including helpful precedents.
Both resources are intended to be useful for new calls and new practitioners.
