Revised Refugee Protection Division practice manual now available online
Wednesday, December 23, 2015
The The Refugee lawyer practice manual has been revised to address changes to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act implemented in late 2012.
The manual covers a wide variety of issues and strategies for best practices, some of which include:
- initial client meetings
- basis of claim and hearing preparation
- working with vulnerable clients
- hearing attendance
- post-hearing submission of evidence
- receiving a negative Refugee Protection Division decision.
It also includes sample precedent letters and links to useful information and additional resources.
This manual revision is part of LAO’s ongoing efforts to ensure high quality service for clients. It will be particularly useful for new calls and practitioners who are new to refugee law.
