E-notifications give legal aid lawyers the upper hand with certificate acknowledgments

More than 1,600 legal aid lawyers have signed up for the enhanced notification system service since Legal Aid Ontario began offering the option in June 2009.

Lawyers who subscribe to the service can choose to have email or text message notifications automatically sent to them, providing real-time updates when changes are made to their client’s profile.

With Statistics Canada reporting that over 77 per cent of Canadian households own a mobile device, the majority of legal aid lawyers already have the technology on-hand to quickly connect with the information they need.

Lawyers interested in signing up for email or text message notifications just need to have a valid lawyer portal ID for Legal Aid Online, an updated email address in their contact information, and/or a valid phone number able to receive text messages.

To sign up for the service, log into Legal Aid Online and select “To receive LAO email/SMS notifications, select this link” from the welcome page, then follow the instructions on screen:
