Who do I contact if I have a media inquiry or need to find a spokesperson?

To request comment or information from Legal Aid Ontario, all media inquiry calls must be directed to the Communications and Public Affairs Department. Please contact:

Can I get information or an update on a client's case?

No. Legal Aid Ontario is bound through the privacy act to protect the confidentiality of our clients and cannot release any client information.


How can I ensure that the media process runs as smoothly as possible?

In order to ensure that media receive the information/spokesperson they seek in a timely and accurate manner, Communications staff will ask a number of key questions, including:

  • Caller name, media outlet and contact information (phone, email, fax)
  • Story deadline
  • What is triggering the story and what questionings/ information/spokesperson are being requested?
  • What other sources are being approached for the story?
